MAY I APP A REAL PERSON OR CARRY ON CR FROM A PREVIOUS GAME INTO THIS ONE?

At this time, that would be a No to both. Mythical/Historical figures from any form of original mythos will not be considered acceptable unless from a definable canon, such as a book, film, television series, video game, etc. CR from within a pre-existing game are also not applicable at this time. These terms may be subject to change in the future. Canon AUs of the same character from the same source which are clearly defined, such as Dave Strider and Davesprite, however, are both appable, as are OCs.

MAY I APP AN OC?

Yes! Players may apply for OCs from their own worlds in regular app cycles.

WHAT ABOUT NATIVE OCs?

Those with existing characters in-game may app for a Native OC on a much more rare app cycle. Because building Native OCs often involves working intensively with mods on world info and background, these app cycles are sporadic.

MAY I APP A FAIRYTALE/MYTHOLOGICAL CHARACTER FROM THEIR ORIGINAL TALE?

Original, or 'base' fairytales without an adaption will not be considered appable, as they will be utilised later in-game for events. So while, say, Red Riding Hood could not be apped from any of her original tales, she could be apped from the most recent modern adaptations IE books or movies.

WOULD A CHARACTER WITH PLAYER-DEPENDENT CHOICES IN THEIR CANON, SUCH AS A DRAGON AGE/MASS EFFECT CHARACTER, BE APPABLE?

Yes! These characters are not considered OCs. Even though the options regarding their fate are player-choice dependent these are official routes within the specified canon, no matter which is selected. Simply make a note of player-choice dependence in your app when specifying the canon so that we are aware before checking any details!

MAY I APP FROM A NEW CANON?

There is a grace waiting period of 8 weeks for characters of any new canon, from its first release date. This is to offer other people the chance to avoid spoilers.

YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE VERSION OF THIS CHARACTER, CAN I PLAY ANOTHER?

No. For example, if there is already one Batman from the movies in the game, then you cannot app in another Bruce Wayne from the comics and if someone is already playing Cloud Strife from Advent Children, you cannot bring him in from Kingdom Hearts. At their essence they are the same character and will be viewed as such on the taken list. First come, first serve.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I APP A CHARACTER WHO IS DEAD/NEAR DEATH?

Characters who have died/near death are perfectly app-able! They will be restored to life/full health upon entering the Drabwurld. Healthy soldiers are what the Seelie and Unseelie rulers are looking for, after all. We understand that being dead/near death and then being perfectly fine will have repercussions on your character's mental well-being, however. You're free to explore that however you'd like at the end of your personality section and in game if you feel it appropriate. This also applies to characters with canon life-threatening illnesses.

For example, if your character is paralysed and you wish for them to enter the game in this condition but to later request as a boon the opportunity to get better, then over a number of months your character will slowly return to full health. The monarchs want their Shardbearers to be healthy and the Drabwurld has a positive effect on the ailments of those who enter it for the first time.

CAN I APP A MINOR CHARACTER?

Yes! To be appable, any character should have at least three examples of direct interaction in canon Spoken, written, signed, all of these are acceptable: we'll be checking to see if the player understands the tone of the character during these specific points in the character's canon as they weave these quotes/excerpts throughout their app.

Note that if over 50% of your app veers in the territory of surpassing fact for fiction (headcanon), we will either ask for clarification, revisions, or should over 75% of the App Team take issue with what they see, you will be issued a rejection.

MY CHARACTER HAS NO POWERS, IS THIS A PROBLEM?

Not at all! It may even be an advantage. There will be chances to gain magical powers and items from respective events, if you want to "level up", but you can also do this if you meet a random PC wizard and they teach you a new spell.

You can learn anything, any way, at any time in ED. Please don't feel the need to hang around for events in order to learn something new!

Please also see the section on boons.

MY POWERS ARE VERY SUBTLE/WEAK!

Not to fear, friend! The Drabwurld will accentuate any subtle inclination in magical ability. For example, if your character is canonically only able to start small fires, they would be able to train in their castle how to create greater flames and exert better control; if your character can shut a door so tightly no one else can open it, they now own the potential to thicken it and raise new walls from the ground-up and bend branches to their will. Please be fair with the amount of time needed to discover realistic limitations (the ability to fly cannot be heightened into gifting other people with the ability, you would only be able to fly faster). Power-enhancement must be applied to the growth of the individual only.

MY CHARACTER IS VERY VIOLENT!

Try to work around this and apply it sensibly. If you wish to go on a rampage and slaughter a whole village you will need to ask the mods for permission first and give clear, applicable reasons, but it is possible to have your character become known for their evil deeds. Orcs and the like won't be counted as losses if your character slaughters a few of them, but innocents will definitely draw the attention of the monarchs. As ever, notify the mods if you require help/clarification of a situation. Characters so violent that they may cause significant issue for existing players may be rejected as a matter of course.

I AM A DRAGON/GHOST/EGGPLANT; HOW DO I FIT IN?

However you want. You arrive exactly as you would be in your canon, there is no PB requirement. You do not have to live within the main castles to remain affiliated: fly, dragon! Make that mountain your home!

MY CHARACTER HAS A WEAPON, CAN THEY ARRIVE WITH IT??

Yes. If it isn't going to be on a world-breaking scale, then they can arrive armed, otherwise it will be significantly de-powered. If this object somehow ties into your character's health then it is safe to assume it will do so, but at the price of surrendering any magically destructive force on a grand scale. (We're talking blow-up-a-village vs. blow-up-a-country, the former of which is perfectly fine.) Size and scale come into it because the imps and fairies don't have the power to carry anything for you, so if you want to bring something large (such as a gundam) then you will need to complete an event and request it as a boon. Please also see the section on boons.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ARRIVE WITH A PET/FAMILIAR?

No, these must be requested as a favour/boon after at least (1) event has been completed. When you are able to make the request the following OOC limitations are applicable: for example, Momo may be given to Aang. If your pet/familiar is not considered an appable character in their own right then they may be brought into the Drabwurld by the magic and grace of the monarchs. They will not, however, have a Shard of their own. Regarding Pokemon, you may arrive with whichever pokemon are on your person/inside their pokeballs at the time you follow the fairies/are kidnapped by imps. Pokemon count as powers in the same way a different character might arrive with a number of magical spells in their repertoire. Please also see the section on boons.

WILL I HAVE TO EXCHANGE MY CHARACTER'S ABILITIES FOR NEW ONES?

No. Providing world-breaking and major powers have been toned-down, you arrive exactly as you are, most powers in-tact. There is no absolute-nerfing (a character with powers will not have ALL their powers stripped) in the Drabwurld. We ask that players exercise a certain level of common sense when it comes to over-powered characters but if there is anything you are uncertain of, please either contact us prior to apping or, instead, to highlight any amendments to powers in your application. We will grant as much leeway as possible, within the rules, to ensure players are satisfied.

BASIC CLARIFICATION ON POWER ALTERATIONS?

1) GODMODES (Dimension hopping, reality-ripping, etc) Unacceptable! You cannot, under any circumstance, leave the Drabwurld unless the war is won by your side. This means anyone who can move between worlds is grounded. If your character would ordinarily be able to destroy the castles they will find the power of the monarchs is too great to overcome, no matter if your character was a god in their own world. There are many who live within, so please bear in mind that launching an attack from within the castle on your fellows will be fiercely contended and quickly shut down by NPCs who have lived there for centuries, people of equally powerful ability. If your character can tear through reality, they will not be able to.
2) TELEPORTATION Will likely be downpowered to specific locations.
3) MAGIC Canonically achieved spells (or anything that equates) are likely to be limited, for example, to one school of magic/element upon entering. Someone should form a wizard's club.
4) TELEPATHY A perfectly appable power, keeping in mind player permission is paramount (doubly so!) when exercising it in-game. The only minds that cannot be read, unless otherwise stated, are those of the NPCs. To try and do so will force the equivalent of nails raking down chalkboards inside the invader's head. It will be very painful and quite impossible a feat!
5) SHAPESHIFTING (Werewolves, etc) Acceptable.
6) FLIGHT Whether by spells or the wings on their back, this is acceptable. (You should watch out for the sylphs, though!)

NB: The general rule is that there are no Special Snowflakes: everyone owns the ability to shut down someone else or fight them on equal footing, it's all a matter of finding the right opposition. If there is anything you are uncertain about and do not believe can be easily dampened power-wise, leave a comment below and we will work with you toward a solution.

BASIC CLARIFICATION ON POWER CAPPING

As the game evolves, gains more players (and more powerful characters), power capping standards are likely to evolve. Individuals within the same canon who app in different cycles may find their powers treated differently. Power capping is done on a case-by case basis for each applicant. Unfortunately, sometimes it happens that we allow something in game which we quickly realize must be addressed in future rounds. In general:

01) If your character has significant magic or powers, it's best to app bearing the fact in mind that you are likely to receive caps, however minor they might be.
02) Be as thorough as possible about your character's powers in the powers section. Bullet point or link us to lists of individual spells, if you must.
03) If you suspect your character might need power caps, we encourage you to add a section about caps which you might suggest to an application review team. Doing so is likely to speed your application's review time.
04) IC mechanisms are in place to explain why characters who are even from the same power level at a similar canon point may have different ones should they apply in different periods and be subject to different power capping rules.

WHAT IF I’M REJECTED?

Be aware that a sizeable group of impartial (and often canonblind) moderators have unanimously, after lengthy debate, agreed that a rejection is best.

There are several reasons rejections are issued: the guidelines on this page were not followed, poor grammatical choices, and most importantly there is little to no cohesive picture painted of the character. We may be familiar with them! This is not the point of an application. YOU are displaying YOUR player-knowledge of how the character works on the assumption of speaking to a canonblind audience. We will be happy to fill in all the blanks for you and submit them for your referral after a rejection but we will not be giving anyone the means to overhaul their application for a revision on the same app cycle. Potential applicants can re-apply in the next cycle.
