MAJOR EVENTS THE BOND BETWEEN MASTER & SERVANT Description [ ✖ ] ADOPTION AGREEMENT Alyosha is summoned to meet the Brucolac on the gravel beach south of the rising Srathmarbh Spire; there, they come to an agreement by which Alyosha will take on the care of the Brucolac's yet-unborn children, should they be freed from his debt to Lucky Penny's, a gambling house in Mair. PLANS The war will be amping up, and participation in the first major battle will leave Alyosha wrong-footed at first, before her innate pragmatism grinds at her enough that she begins to reorganise and restructure her resources. She will take many mercenary jobs and travel the drabwurld with her troops over the course of Spring and Summer, often with many of her shardbearer friends and acquaintances in tow. Many of these missions will have significant political implications and undertones. This period of adventuring will also act as her last hurrah before she knuckles down to parenthood, and adopts two children roughly in Sept/Oct. She will turn over visible leadership of her company to her right hand, Diarmuid, and begin an aggressive series of behind-the-scenes political power plays which should be just rolling out by the May 2,702. Politically beneficial marriage may wind up being involved. The timeskip will represent a transition by which Alyosha will withdraw into a more background role, consolidating influence through various avatars and a deep network of contacts spanning both courts, and the resume to gametime will herald her opening play to begin effectively crippling the courts. MARCH 07 - Discussing adoption with the Brucolac. MARCH - Alyosha continues to coach Waver and Dia on shard use. There's grim talk of war and a little bit of hilarity. MARCH 10 - Vampir elders plan a coup. MARCH 16 - Getting Kayneth under her thumb. MARCH 22 - Alyosha trains with Diarmuid to help him 'round the loss of his arm. APRIL - Using dwarven contacts to investigate other magical prosthetics. APRIL - Betrays Tzilan's trust with the White Hand in a bid to usurp power of the clan during a key meeting of elders. Vampires remain in Dorchadas. MAY - Fucking golden swans; reveals she's shit at archery. MAY - Becomes sometimes-babysitter and tutor for Rin's young heir. SUMMER IN 2,701 (Jun, Jul, Aug) JUNE - The Treun Tourney! Places bets on the Treun tourney, doesn't participate; instead, like many other seasoned power-players in drabwurld politics, she utilises the time to rub elbows with the who's who, feeling out the new political landscape. AUGUST - Mercenaries clear a major forest of rampaging golems, guard a caravan traveling to the Cothromach, other tasks which recall her wilder days as a younger shardbearer. AUGUST - Aly's Adventures in Allaidh Darach: A Musical AUGUST - Movie date night at the Station? FALL IN 2,701 (Sept, Oct, Nov) SEPTEMBER - Hilarious translation issues. Alyosha speaks Drabbish fluently, but may revert in some moments to her native language, which aurally sounds similar to modern Romanian/Moldovan. SEPTEMBER - Background alliance with various political figures across both courts who were not at the tourney. SEPTEMBER 27 - Anniversary of Alyosha's death. SEPTEMBER 29 - Birth of Shamash. OCTOBER 03 - Birth of Ishtar. OCTOBER 05 - Officially guardian of both babbins. OCTOBER 25 - Goes to Samhain celebrations only for the span of a night; spends most of it very domestically. Has both babbins blessed by acolytes of the Black Shuck; long heart to heart with Linn. NOVEMBER - Goes to capture inmates with mercs, forever checking in on babbins, decides to spend more time with what's more important to her. Cedes leadership of the mercs to Diarmuid while she parents. NOVEMBER - Reparations with Tzilan; uses political leverage to assist his university. WINTER IN 2,701/2,702 (Dec, Jan, Feb) JANUARY - Aly reveals herself for an aggressive tigermom. JANUARY - Aly draws her network of power in the vampire community tighter, resulting in stiff talks with elders; big reveal. FEBRUARY - 1 year anniversary w/ Dia, takes him somewhere special. SPRING IN 2,702 (Mar, Apr) APRIL - Takes beebins to see the apple blossoms in the orchards southeast of Redgate; domestic happy nonsense.

Alyosha frowned, forked tongue flicking in distress, and she leaned back into her seat, steepling her hands. Her sire sat to her left, and two other men at other points around the circular table. A blonde woman, seemingly the oldest of the three, prowled restlessly around the table.

"You all know my feelings on returning power into the hands of natives, Elders. But... what you propose is... drastic. There hasn't been a coup like this since the time of Princes."

Lainost, to her right, lifted his lips from his teeth. "Drastic times call for drastic measures. You have lived long, Alyosha, and warred much. But to all of us here- even soft-handed Morven-"

Morven laughed lightly, shaking back his hair, his sudden smile sunnily beautific, "Always so complimentary of me, warrior," he teased.

Lainost shook his head, frowning, clearly hating to be interrupted. He continued, "... Better to live in war than not to live. We all perish, at the moment of Seelie victory. Your efforts, and those of the serpent, have yielded nothing. Those who have followed your track in the times before you have found nothing but their deaths upon it. The time is now to make a decision, and between us three and your sire, there is unanimous accord: to give our aid to all Unseelie, that we may prevent the world from sliding into utter darkness."

"No kind of predator sees his end coming and doesn't fight it," snapped Aileas, pausing to frown, dragging her sharpened nails over the back of an unoccupied chair, raising splinters in their wake.

Alyosha looked to the White Hand, lips thinning, expression guarded.

"You claimed me and brought me into the clan," she said, slowly, stiffly, "I am honour and blood bound to serve your aims..."

Her shoulders hunched, and she shot a hard look to the other three. "... but the White Serpent was as good as a father to me. It was under his protection that I learned this world, under his guidance that I survived my first years. I owe him a debt, too; one also made of blood."

"Did you not pay that debt when he gave you up to Death's Altar?" offered Lainost, not missing a beat. He drummed his fingers on the table.

"Children usurp their parents. It is the way of things," hissed Aileas, folding her lean arms over the back of the chair. "How soft have these years made you, woman? I met you again on the field and thought you had become yourself again; whence this pathetic, simpering sentiment?"

Alyosha's eyes flashed and she flashed fang. "Your victory wasn't easy-won, Aileas; don't snarl so loudly while talking about who usurps whom. You know you need me for what you mean to do."

"And I could easily turn tail, run and tell the White Serpent what you intend."

[fairyfoes]

"You won't," snapped Lainost, making a motion to break Aileas' rigid attention upon Alyosha. The other vampir hissed, looked away, resumed her agitated pacing.

"We know you mean to have another child, Alyosha. You know what's coming. We know you. You'll help us, and you'll help the Unseelie, because in the end you no more want to risk the Seelie victory than we do. If not for yourself, than for your children."

"More, we can give you the means to make your victory over the Fox complete. We have, between us, information on the half-sylph who leads the Cult of the Fox. Help us, and it is yours."

The White Hand had been still and silent until this time, and now touched Alyosha's arm, a parody of caring.

"We needn't kill him," he murmured, as if trying to be gentle.

APRIL // via compass, voice.

[ She tests it on her tongue more slowly this time; one can effortlessly hear the breadth of her grin in the quality of her voice. ]

[His own delight is fervent, relieved.]

Because I had to go through a dictionary to settle on it.

[ There's a creak of leather and wood, faint; she'd thrown herself into a chair. A soft thud followed, faintly hollow, familiar as boots-onto-tabletop or desk.

Some mumbled word, like a muttered prayer of thanks, little better than a grateful, well-pleased sigh. ]

Tell me why this, what drew you to it, what made you think of it.

I told you. Treoraí, navigator, so that they won't get lost. That they'll know their way. Look up to the stars and know their place by them.

[ She made a noise of restrained excitement, but exhaled a breath, clearly tempering herself. ]

Brucolac, you must know what names mean to me; I'll no doubt ask you to say it again a half-dozen times before the year's out, for no more reason than to hear you say it.

It's.. more appropriate than you know, I think. I'd pick you for all the inane details that don't matter if I thought you had time for it: what other things you considered, why this weighed better in your estimation. Everything.

... have you thought of fore-names? How is Yseult? Hell, how are you and yours, after the bitter cold? I'd gone to Leathann for a wedding, and it was snowing even there.

[vrykolakas]

[He gives a low, rumbling laugh, rich with tenderness and entirely pleased.]

I'll tell you all the inane details you want when we have time to meet in person. No sense in wasting all my good trivialities too soon. I still don't know what I can give them for forenames, but believe me I've been thinking about it. Picking up interesting syllables, fitting them in, discarding them... [He gives a self-deprecating tch of amusement and carries on.]

Yseult is well. [His voice is tinged with warmth and pride.] Mair was the best place to be during the storms. While we froze in our boots she was plucking spring flowers, and being very smug about it. She says she's beginning to show her situation, but hell if I can see what she's talking about yet. And me and mine...ah, we got through. It wasn't easy. But I seem to be founding a township of tough bastards.

[fairyfoes]

Tease.

[ She accused him with a laugh, low and warm as a purr. ]

Make me wait, then. I'll just think of more to ask, and give you good cause to regret it, mm?

[ She waited through the rest with baited breath; making no sound, her focus on every word so absolute that her silence strung out, clear as crystal. One could almost hear the tightness of her grip on the compass. ]

Plucking flowers; may she have eternal spring, and all the smugness it warrants. Cold is hard on a body, and I worried. No doubt she's feeling all the small changes as larger than they are... and she'll be trading sickness for aches and other discomforts about now, too... How does she spend her time? Is she happy? Have kith or kin to visit her, some... social structure of support, when you can't attend her?

[ She hummed a contented sound. ]

Srathmarbh. I like the sound of it the more I hear.

[vrykolakas]

She sketches. Paints, too. Since I enlisted another shardbearer to help her see again, she says she has catching up to do. And she's learning to read, to write, has a tutor in Mair. She decorates her rooms, sets them to burn with colour.

But...no family, no. And no close friends in the city. [Voice muted by worry.] I'd bring her to Srathmarbh, but it's no place for her just now, and if she's not happy in Mair, she would be much less so here.

[fairyfoes]

Beautiful. I'm... glad. That she's seizing what she wants.

I agree, about moving her from Mair. Doing so would do no less than paint a target upon her back... [ Her own voice quieted. She exhaled a slow, quiet hiss. Thoughtful. ]

Does she seem happy, despite that solitude? She's a woman grown... [ And I'm having difficulty judging for myself the line where my meddling's appropriate, seemed the unspoken sentiment. ]

[vrykolakas]

I don't know. [And he was unhappy not to know; to be so unsure.] She seems happier.

She'd welcome your company, I think. Most women she knows who got with child haven't ended well. She was a whore; taught to think of pregnancy as a business problem at best, a death sentence at worst.

If you'd but introduce me, I'm there. And perhaps if we're fortunate and it isn't entirely grating, some of my enthusiasm can rub off to improve her perspective.
